Chapter 4

Now that you’re diving into your money magic and manifestation journey, you’re starting to see just how deep some of our subconscious fears go and why it’s important to dig them up. But the work doesn’t end when you start making money! Shadow work is a lifelong journey that allows us to evolve and grow.

Shadow Work Must-Haves

“Debbie Ford explains that the dark side of our personality should not be hidden. By denying our dark side, we reject these aspects of our true natures rather than giving ourselves the freedom to live authentically. Here she shows that it is possible to acknowledge and accept our so-called weaknesses, proving that these qualities may be important, hidden strengths. For example, perhaps some “selfishness” can save us from exhaustion and resentment.

“Full of illuminating stories and practical exercises, Debbie Ford shows us how to reconcile our darker impulses and find the gifts they offer. Your life will be transformed when you unconceal, own, and embrace your shadow.”

Note from Jessie: The audiobook comes with meditations to help you discover and confront your shado aspects.

“To Be Magnetic’s unique manifestation process is backed by neuroscience, psychology, EMDR, epigenetics, and energetics with a little spirituality sprinkled on top. It’s based on raising your self-worth and stepping into your unique authenticity by reprogramming the subconscious limiting beliefs that you picked up during childhood and throughout your life.”

Note from Jessie: To Be Magnetic or “TBM” directly led me not only to my life’s work, but one far more satisfying than I could ever have imagined.

TBM is the reason for my business, my fiancé, my success, and the book that led you to this page.

My Fat Role Models

This is honestly one of the only shows where a main character living in a large body is not only not used as a cheap plot point, she has a super-hot, straight-sized husband!

Game Face is one of those shows that will have you cringing and laughing at the same time. Plus-sized characters aren’t always given the chance to be weird, so I loved this! Warning: British humor.

If you want to see plus-sized people breaking barriers and killing it on the dance floor, this is for you. You will laugh, cry, and feel so seen, I promise. I still think of this for inspiration during my workouts.

Jessamyn Stanley was my very first exposure to health and wellness that was not focused on shrinking my body. Her platform, The Underbelly, provides a fun, sassy way to dive into yoga just as you are.

I’m obsessed with Shannon Kaneshige of Fringeish. Not only are they creating a safe space for fat people, nonbinary folks, and the disabled to move, they offer accessible options for people of all income levels

Jill Angie is the reason I’m a runner. She’s a personal trainer and running coach who helps all women hit the pavement, no matter their size, age, or experience level. If you hate Couch 2 5k, you’ll love her.
